Mechanical shaft seals for pumps · DIN 24960 / EN 12756
A mechanical seal is a reliable sealing solution that prevents liquid leaking from the passage between a rotating shaft and the pump housing. Sealing is based on two precision-machined faces sliding against each other. Spring loading keeps the seal faces continuously in contact and compensates for wear of the faces, installation tolerances and shaft movement.
A correctly selected mechanical shaft seal provides efficient, long-lasting sealing and reduces leakage and maintenance. That is why mechanical seals are a common solution for pumps and other rotating-shaft sealing applications where a traditional gland packing does not meet the sealing requirements.

The extensive stock of over 80,000 items held across our supply network enables fast delivery of the most common mechanical seals and other industrial sealing products. Good availability helps shorten maintenance shutdowns and keeps production running even in urgent replacement situations.
The manufacture and quality control of the mechanical seals we supply are based on ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management at the production site. The seals are designed to fit commonly used seal chambers, so installation can often be carried out without modifications to the pump housing or flange.
The most common mechanical seals are available in sizes to the DIN 24960 and EN 12756 standards. Solutions are also available to fit seal chambers built to European and American standards. Standardised dimensions make it easier to select the right mechanical seal and allow an existing seal to be replaced quickly.
A standard mechanical seal does not suit every application. Equipment-specific replacement seals are therefore also available, designed to fit the seal chambers of different pump makes and models. This means the right mechanical seal can be found even when a standard solution does not fit the application directly.
The correct choice of mechanical seal depends on the pump type, the shaft dimensions, the operating pressure, the temperature, the rotational speed and the pumped medium. A correctly sized mechanical seal ensures reliable sealing and helps extend the pump service interval.
