PE-500 is a high-molecular-weight polyethylene (HMW-PE) that offers a balanced combination of abrasion resistance, impact strength and easy machinability. It is the standard grade for industrial wear and sliding applications where UHMW-PE would be over-specified. PE-500 has very low friction, does not absorb moisture and is resistant to most acids, bases and solvents. It is FDA compliant in natural colour and widely used in food and beverage equipment, silos and chute linings, as well as machine building where parts are exposed to sliding contact and abrasive media.
