PE-1000 is ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE), recognised as one of the most wear-resistant thermoplastics available. Its extremely long molecular chains give it outstanding abrasion resistance, high impact strength even at cryogenic temperatures and an exceptionally low coefficient of friction. UHMW-PE is chemically inert, non-absorbent and self-lubricating, which makes it the default choice for bulk material handling, ore and mineral processing, and food-contact slide rails. It outlasts steel and PE-500 in most sliding, impact and abrasion applications.
